Parent Information Evenings

These are held early in Term 1 to present an overview of the year level work, proposed year level
and class activities and class teachers' organizational and management procedures. Periodically, Parent Information Evenings may be conducted for other specific purposes e.g. curriculum announcements, major policy changes, camps and excursions, sexuality education, community events.

School Progress Report

A written Student Report of a student's progress will be issued twice per year, usually at the end of each semester. Education Queensland requires all schools to use similar processes, formats and gradings for reporting student achievement and effort to parents. The report is only one of a number of strategies used by the school to communicate with parents throughout the year and parent-teacher interviews will also be offered to discuss your child’s performance and progress.

Parent-Teacher Interviews

All parents are encouraged to engage in Parent-teacher interviews organised to provide a face to face report on the progress of students during each semester. This may occur at any time during the year on the basis of a prearranged appointment outside class teaching time. From time to time, other parent/teacher meetings may be scheduled to discuss issues of concern to either the parent or the teacher. Towards the end of each semester, teachers will usually contact parents with whom they have not had an interview. In some cases, the Principal or Deputy Principal may formally request a parent/teacher meeting.

Education Queensland State-wide Reports

Year 2 Net/Continuums for Literacy and Numeracy are issued at the end of Semester 1.
Yr 1 and Yr 3 Continuum Reports for Literacy and Numeracy Reports issued at the end of Semester Two.
Year 3, 5 and 7 Tests occur towards the end of August each year. Reports are issued in Term 4.

Phone or E-mail Communication

Teachers can be contacted by phone or email. Parents wishing to talk with class teachers or students
are asked to ring before school or after school to avoid interruptions to class learning time. Alternatively a message or a request for the teacher or administration team member to return the call can be left with office staff to pass on to the teacher during breaks.   All teachers have access to email accounts. While some topics are well suited to email, it is important to remember that email is not always read on the day it is sent and some matters are more effectively dealt with using other forms of communication.
